Other parking location information

Parking discs are used by motorists who want to park in short-stay parking spaces. Car park maps show the location of these parking spots. Motorists must display a parking disc when arriving at the car park. Long-stay car parks do not require a disc.

You can buy parking discs from libraries, tourist information centres, customer information centres, local businesses, and some councils.

Remember to check the signs when parking for the time limits that are applicable and other parking information.

We maintain our pay and display systems regularly but technical issues are occasionally unavoidable. If you're parked where a ticket machine isn’t working, check for other ticket machines in your parking area and buy a Pay & Display ticket. Report the fault by calling 0345 600 6400 with the fault description, the location and the ticket machine number.

Drivers should be aware that if they park illegally or fail to pay fines, they could face an additional fine when they return to collect their car. This information should be provided on the dashboard of any vehicle parked illegally.

We've highlighted the car parks available in Northumberland that are suitable for large vehicles. It's important that vehicles only park in bay areas of the correct size. If you're parking your vehicle in our off-street pay-and-display car parks, it's okay to use more than one bay as long as you pay for all of them.

We are currently looking to improve the parking facilities within a number or car parks to allow for motor home parking bays, as well as other large vehicle parking bays. These car parks are also suitable for camping and sleeping. Cooking, camping and sleeping are strictly prohibited in these car parks.

We allow mobile traders to sell goods in some of our city centre car parks, but we don't give them permission to do so. The right to trade in these areas are granted on a three-year basis. Mobile traders must submit bids for each successive year in the period advertised, or lose the rights to trade there.

You can see available trading concessions by clicking here. Available trading concessions are advertised on the corporate contracts portal: please note: you need to sign up as a supplier before you submit your tender.

Tender documents should include a statement that tender documents will not be considered if any outstanding trading licences fees exist from any previous licence periods
