What is the theory test pass mark?

The pass mark for the car test is 86% (43/50). You must answer at least 43 questions correctly to pass this section. You also need to get 44 points on the hazard perception test to successfully complete the entire test.

When you do not need a theory test

You don't need to take a theory exam before taking a driving test to upgrade your license. An automatic vehicle license to a manual vehicle license. From small motorcycles to medium motorcycles, if you've held your license for two years or more. From medium vehicles to large vehicles, unless you passed a car driving test.

A minibus must tow a trailer. You do NOT need to take a theory exam before booking a minibus.

CANCELLING AND RESCHEDULING THE THEORY TEST

ONCE YOU HAVE BOOKED YOUR TEST

Once your theory test has been confirmed, you should receive an email confirming this. You should also be given directions to the centre.

ATTENDING YOUR THEORY TEST

Allow plenty of time to arrive. Late entrants may be refused entry and lose the test fee. Take your provisional driving licence. For safety reasons, test candidates who don't provide their licence may be denied entry. If you've lost your licence, get in touch with the DVLA to order another one.

Other parking location information

If you're parked where a ticket machine isn’t working, check for other ticket machines in your parking area and buy a Pay & Display ticket. Report the fault by calling 0345 600 6400 with the fault description, the location and the ticket machine number.

Drivers should be aware that if they park illegally or fail to pay fines, they could face an additional fine when they return to collect their car. This information should be provided on the dashboard of any vehicle parked illegally.

These car parks are also suitable for camping and sleeping. Cooking, camping and sleeping are strictly prohibited in these car parks.

We allow mobile traders to sell goods in some of our city centre car parks, but we don't give them permission to do so. The right to trade in these areas are granted on a three-year basis. Mobile traders must submit bids for each successive year in the period advertised, or lose the rights to trade there.

Parking locations charges

Here you'll find your nearest council-run car park in Northumberlands. There are different types of car parks available. Short term car parks charge per day, but some offer longer stays. Check the prices and restrictions before using any car parks.

Some council offices and local businesses are closed due to Covid-19. Pay and display charges are applied 24/7, Monday to Sunday including Bank Holidays. You can park for 72 hours (24/7, Monday to Saturday including Bank Holidays). Parking time limit applies to all types parking bays.

Max stays at the car park for as long as he wants. He pays £1.50 per hour if he stays there for less than an hour. He pays £3.00 per hour if he stays longer than two hours. He pays £4.50 per hour if stays longer than three hours.

All day car parks require a time limit of four hours or more. A parking place max stay parking disc is needed. Further information is available.

There are some bays available near the beach. Please check out the signs around the area. You can reserve these bays for up to two hours.
