If you are being driven to the test centre, there is parking available at Carlisle train station. This is a four-minute walk to the test centre being approximately 0.2 miles away. It is free to park here for a duration of two hours.

Candidates attending by bus require the bus stop located on Lonsdale St this is approximately 0.1 miles away from the test centre and will take you 3 minutes to walk in.

About the Driving Theory Test

The driving theory test is designed to confirm your knowledge in areas of the road that are not practical to examine during the driving test itself. In order to hold a full UK driving licence one must pass both the theory and the practical elements of driving.

Your test will be done on computer and start with a multiple-choice quiz and move on to a hazard perception simulation. Your revision with us takes the same format so it becomes familiar and not a concern on the day.

Taking the Test

It is extremely important that you head to the test centre 15 minutes before you are due to take your test. The timings are very tight and if you are even slightly late you are likely to be disqualified which will result in an immediate fail. This is not a decision that can be appealed easily as DVLA make the rules very clear in advance.

You will also be allocated a locker upon arrival, and it is vital that you leave everything you bring with you in the locker. You may not take your mobile phone or any other electronic device into the room with you pieces of paper or things in your pockets can also be classed as cheating and you will be automatically failed and removed from the test.

After the Test

The nice thing about the theory test is that it provides an instant result so there is no need to wait around. You will be given a printout that details how you performed on each section of the test and whether you passed or failed. This is a useful revision guide if you do happen to fail.
