Directions
If you are travelling to the test centre by car, then you will need to travel to Boswell Park, by travelling south in the direction of Sandgate. Private parking is available at a cost of £2 for four hours, and is a 20 minute walk from the test facility.
Candidates travelling to the test centre by bus will need to get off at the bus stop which is two minutes away from the test centre, and those travelling by train will need to get off at the train station, which is seven minutes walk away.

About the Driving Theory Test

Driving theory test is designed to test your knowledge of the different theoretical elements of driving. You’ll be required to interpret road signs, calculate stopping distances, and react to hazards depending on what’s going on.
The test itself will consist of a multiple-choice quiz, where you will answer questions about driving theory, and then a simulation where you will be viewing a series of hazards along the road and you will be required to identify them correctly and react to them.

Taking the Test
Please arrive 15 minutes early to the test centre, as the DVLA will fail all the applicants with no appeal. Once you arrive, you will be instructed to give all of your personal belongings to a member of staff, who will place them in a secure lock up. Please do not bring anything electronic, or written down into the test room with you, as this will be considered cheating and you could be failed automatically.

After the Test
Once the test has been completed, you will be given a series of scores on a piece of paper which will tell you whether you have passed or failed. If driving, drive south on Sandgate and take a left into Boswell Park. The test centre is about half way down Boswell Park road.
